The Wailers are headed to the beach for some fun in the sun! Get ready for a 2-hour paddle followed by a beach party potluck. We might even see some moon jellies (harmless jellyfish)! Alamitos Peninsula Beach is the place to be with calm waters perfect for a leisurely swim or chilling on a raft with a tasty cocktail in hand. This event is open to Wailers and non-Wailers too, so share this invite with prospective new members!

Date:  July 13, 2024

Time:  9:00 am - 11:30am Kayaking/paddle boarding
           12:00pm - 3:00pm after paddle beach party

Location:  Alamitos Bay, 5411 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90803; Exact meeting location will be in the confirmation email.

Difficulty Level: YOU MUST KNOW HOW TO SWIM! Beginners to advanced kayakers are welcome. Advanced only for paddle boarders. Expect to be paddling for 2 hours.

Rentals: Rent kayaks ($14/hr. pp) or paddle boards ($35/hr. pp) from Kayaks on the Water. Please only rent a paddle board if you are advanced and can SUP for 2 hours. Otherwise, you may become separated from the group and not make it to the area to see the moon jellies. If you have your own kayak or paddle board, please bring it!

After paddle potluck beach party: Alamitos Peninsula Beach, Long Beach. Bring your tubes for a float! This bay beach is clean and has no surf so it is great for swimming or floating on a raft with your favorite cocktail. Bring a dish to share. The restrooms are located about .25 miles away. If you don't want to paddle, you can join us on the beach around noon.

Parking: There is free parking in the lot at 5437 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach (if you get there early enough), or on the street along E. Ocean Blvd. There is paid parking ($2/hr.) at the lot on 54th and Claremont (5400 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach). If you are staying for the beach party, you may want to park on one of the side streets on Alamitos Peninsula - it's free with no limit.

Kids welcome; must know how to swim. Sorry, no dogs allowed.
